So this was cool - the first time I’ve ever been here, although, maybe once is enough. Parking was $10 cash, which was a bit high I thought. But still, I had a good time. The presidents are Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt, representing the country’s foundation, preservation, expansion (the Louisiana Purchase was completed in Lincoln’s term), and development. Of course the land was taken from the Lakota Sioux. The mountain was originally named Six Grandfathers by them. The carvings were supposed to be to waist, not just heads.
I love the "reader's digest" versions of your trip!
