July 28 Last Day with The Family

We had a full day in Anchorage, so we went to the museum and saw the exhibit on gold and looked into a few fur shops downtown. We also went to Simon and Seaforts and ordered a bunch of half priced appetizers (yum, yum) and watched planes take off from the airport over Cook Inlet. It was so sad to see everyone go back to FL, but I'm so grateful to be staying here! Here are a few pictures with the luggage at the Captain Cook. I'll miss y'all!! Y'all come back now, ya hear?! ;)

July 27 Last Camping Spot: Crow's Creek

Here are a few pictures of our last camping spot at Crow's Creek. It was beautiful! I took a few movies too but decided not to put any online because the sound of the creek dominates too much. Later, I heard that the blueberry picking is great here. Maybe I’ll have the chance to find out about that at some point. An older boy (9?) shared his 4 wheeler with Bryce and they had a great time. The kids hiked up and down the creek some too. The sides are very steep. There were a few other people who hopped out of a car with backpacks and started out on a trail that would eventually lead them to Eagle River, so the trail went over the Chugach Mountains. They said it would take about 3 days. Sounds like FUN!

July 25 An Ocean Cruise with Birds and Whales and A Sea Otter

So today we set out for our three hour cruise, three hour cruise (or was it 4?). But made it safely back to harbor, after all! It is so unbelievably beautiful here. Alaska calls my name like no other place on earth. We saw all kinds of wildlife, birds, whales, otters, seals. Passed by Marathon Mt and our camping spot on the way out of the bay.

July 24 Seward! Resurrection Bay!

Seward is such a cool place. I think I love it! We walked around downtown after having a bite to eat in a local restaurant and then we took in the Sea Life Center. Neat stuff!

July 23 Bryce, We Discover, Is a Cave Man

We went on a half-day guided fishing trip on the Kenai and had the best time! One dead fish ate an apple (who did that?!) and Bryce helped club the fish, and so earned his nickname for the day, Cave Man. Everyone caught fish except me - I turned out to be expert in having fish jump off my line. Oh well. Next year I'll be a resident and I'll be able to go dip net fishing. Surely I won't fail at dipping salmon out of the water! One can only hope!!! :)
